Kindle Wireless Reader
Amazon introduced the Kindle wireless reader to the general public in late 2007. Because of its popularity, the Kindle reader sold out in only five and a half hours after becoming available to consumers. Thanks to (EVDO), Sprint's high-speed data network, there are over 130,000 books, newspapers and magazines that can be downloaded in just minutes. This service is offered free of charge to Kindle users.
In addition, newspaper subscriptions can be delivered to your Kindle on a daily basis, and you can even get a number of magazines before they are out on newsstands. Even though the Kindle reader can only be used without a computer if you are in the Sprint coverage area, the Kindle can be used in any location throughout the world if you have access to a computer with a USB port and an internet connection.
The Kindle wireless reader is smaller than most books and can easily fit into your backpack or briefcase. It is the ideal reading device for travellers. No more lugging heavy books around. The Kindle stores more than 200 books and newspaper files, and if you add the available memory card, your storage amount will be significantly increased. It has a long battery life and can even
be used on an airplane.
Do you have a shortage of storage space at home? With the Kindle, that problem is solved. So are the hassles of packing your books if you move. I know from my own experience how difficult it can be to pick and choose which books to pack if you have a huge library.
Are you concerned about the environment like many are, myself included? If so, this is another good reason to purchase a Kindle e-book reader. Think of the trees you are saving!
Does the Kindle have any negative points? Yes. For one thing, it's epensive. The average price is around the $400 mark. But you can opt for a used one if you cannot afford the cost or just do not want to spend a lot of money. To me however, it's worth every penny when you think of the convenience and long term savings. Even paperbacks are getting pricey these days.
Other negatives include the white, all buttons design and monochrome screen (although most people don't seem too phased by this). And then there are the people who love to share a good book with their friends. With the Kindle, that option is out. But overall, when you weigh the pros and cons of Kindle ownership, the pros win hands down.
The Kindle wireless reader is a great new product in today's elecronic market. It is an amazing little device.
